GUEST PANELLIST AT THE JENNY KEE AND LINDA JACKSON RETROSPECTIVE 'STEP INTO PARADISE' EXHIBITION AT THE POWERHOUSE MUSEUM!
For a lifelong lover of all things colourful and cultural, I was suitably chuffed to be invited as a guest panelist to explore the themes of the jaw-dropping ah-mazing Jenny Kee and Linda Jackson fashion retrospective, ‘Step Into Paradise’.
Curated by writer and academic Dr Sally Gray, it was a delight to share my ideas and practices in the ‘Performing the Self: Fashion and Identity’ talk alongside Powerhouse Museum senior curator Roger Leong and writer and academic Dr Karen de Perthuis.
What a treat to explore the key concepts and rich social history embedded within the work of Jenny Kee and Linda Jackson - one of the most influential pairings in Australian fashion history - from my perspective as an artist and designer also working with colour and symbols of Australian identity today.
Special thanks to Dr Sally Gray for inviting me to join the discussion and to the Powerhouse Museum team for hosting the event. Hopefully a podcast is made available soon to share snippets of gold from our chat - fingers crossed!
